Ne’mon Biy Vakhechi

Biography

Ne’mon Biy was a well-known warrior and ruler of Vakhiyoi Bolo who lived, most probably, in the early 19th century. He came from the village of Naiguft in Vakhiyo and was the father of Shohmansur, one of the principal commanders of the Darvaz shahdom.

According to local tradition, in the early 19th century Ne’mon Biy led the struggle against Kyrgyz forces in the areas of Hait, Tajikabad and Lakhsh. His victories are linked with the strengthening of the Vakhiyo people’s position across much of Karategin.
