About the song
The poem was written by Jovid Ghulom, a Soviet official from the village of Gurum in the Vakhiyo valley, which at that time belonged to Sagirdasht. The song is performed by Dilovar Partoev, also a native of Sagirdasht in the Vakhiyo valley. He was an ordinary school teacher by profession.
The song was performed among ordinary people — they sang it to one another, for their own circle, without an official stage or a professional purpose. That is why it has kept its living folk character and become part of the cultural memory of the Vakhiyo valley.
